China Huadians Largest Overseas Wind Farm Attains Full Commercial Operation in Vietnam

At 16:00 Beijing Time on July 6, the 4×50MW Dak Lak Wind Power Project in Vietnam, invested, constructed and operated by China Huadian Engineering Co., Ltd., successfully achieved full capacity commercial operation (COD). This marks the official commissioning of China Huadian Group’s largest wind power project invested and built overseas, injecting fresh momentum into high-quality Belt and Road cooperation and the green energy transition across Southeast Asia.

Located in Krong Buk Commune and Krong Pong Commune of Vietnam’s Dak Lak Province, the wind farm sits roughly 40 kilometers away from Buon Ma Thuot, the regional core city. The site boasts abundant wind resources and mature power absorption conditions. Equipped with 73 wind turbines, the project has a total installed capacity of 200MW. Once running at full capacity, it can supply approximately 612 million kWh of clean electricity annually, covering the daily power demand of around 240,000 local households. Each year, the wind farm will save 190,000 tons of standard coal and cut carbon dioxide emissions by 500,000 tons.

Moreover, the project actively fulfills the overseas social responsibilities of central state-owned enterprises. It has created over 500 local jobs throughout the construction phase, effectively boosting local employment and industrial income growth. A total of 68 kilometers of mountainous rural roads were newly built and renovated, greatly improving travel convenience for villagers and smoothing regional logistics transport routes. Regular public welfare initiatives have been carried out, including targeted donations of daily necessities and teaching supplies to nearby villages and primary schools. Through tangible livelihood programs, the project builds a bridge of friendship between China and Vietnam, and delivers a win-win overseas development performance with solid corporate responsibility.
