The newly built charging stations are situated within the Monterrey metropolitan area, equipped with 37 units of 120 kW fast chargers that deliver 74 simultaneous charging ports and a total installed capacity of 4,440 kW, ranking among the largest public charging facilities across northern Mexico. One of the two stations is integrated with a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), engineered to boost energy resilience and guarantee uninterrupted operation of the charging infrastructure.

Germán Losada, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Vemo, stated at the inauguration ceremony that the investment targets scaling up charging capacity and further solidifying the electric mobility ecosystem in one of Mexico’s fastest-growing industrial and tech hubs.

Mexico’s electric vehicle market has maintained robust growth momentum lately. Data released by Electro Movilidad Asociación shows that by the end of Q1 2026, the national fleet of fully electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles surpassed 235,000, marking an 83% year-on-year increase. Meanwhile, the total number of public charging stations nationwide has reached 4,378.

Roberto Rocha, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Vemo, added that the company strives to improve the accessibility of charging infrastructure to keep pace with rising EV penetration and facilitate daily charging for vehicle users.

The two new charging hubs are located on José Vasconcelos Avenue in San Pedro Garza García and Revolución Avenue in Monterrey respectively. They are the first two of four large-scale charging stations Vemo plans to construct in Nuevo León this year. Upon full completion by the end of 2026, the state’s charging network will feature 65 units of 120 kW fast chargers capable of serving 130 electric vehicles at the same time.

At present, Vemo’s national charging network spans 18 Mexican states with 1,960 charging connectors, processing more than 110,000 charging sessions every month.

Beyond charging infrastructure, the company has opened an OEM-certified professional EV repair workshop covering an area of 1,800 square meters with a monthly maintenance capacity of 1,500 vehicles, which also houses Vemo’s new local operational offices.

Under its development roadmap, Vemo will add 1,000 electric vehicles in Nuevo León in 2026 via lease-to-own programs for drivers on digital mobility platforms. The firm estimates that the announced investment will generate roughly 350 direct and indirect jobs across charging station operation, professional EV maintenance and electric mobility services.

Nuevo León serves as Vemo’s core operational base in northern Mexico and a priority market for its electric mobility infrastructure rollout. The company disclosed that this investment forms part of its over USD 1.5 billion five-year expansion strategy, which centers on scaling charging infrastructure, improving EV access and advancing mobility technology solutions throughout Mexico and Latin America.
